Save Our Domes
A Bold Vision for Preservation and Renewal at Milwaukee’s Mitchell Park Domes
Save Our Domes is a joint-effort campaign of the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance and National Trust for Historic Preservation fighting for a long-term preservation solution for the Mitchell Park Domes.
In 2016, Milwaukee County created a citizen-led Domes Task Force to study feasible solutions for the long-term future of the Domes. The Task Force worked for 3 years, engaging with the public and endeavoring to consider all possible ways forward.
Based on the work, in 2019 the Task Force developed a vision for a way forward that acknowledges the challenges while focusing on the possibilities. The report concluded that preservation was both feasible and beneficial, and would produce an economically sustainable future for Mitchell Park.
In 2024, the Friends of the Domes took the vision from the Task Force, and developed a comprehensive action plan to move the project forward.
